In Snowmen at Christmas, author Caralyn Buehner and illustrator Mark Buehner take you on an imaginative journey into the snowmen's holiday celebration. The snowmen gather in the town square. They have cold treats of icecream and snowcones. They play games like freeze tag. They dance and sing and celebrate the birth of a King. The party is made magical when Kris Kringle comes bringing gifts made of snow. By Christmas morning, all the snowmen are back in place with a smile on their face.
The illustrations are amazing and the rhyming text has a nice flow.
For our 12 days of Christmas craft, we made a popsicle stick snowman for our tree.
You will need 5-6 craft sticks painted white. We glued them onto paper and then cut out around them. Add button eyes and nose and a black pre-cut hat (unless your child is able to cut it out by himself). Draw on a smile.
Tape on a string and hang on the tree.

I love how you combine books with crafts! Crafts that let little ones do most of the work are the best!
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of this book. I'm going to read it to my kids today. We have some large craft sticks. I bet they'd like to do this craft. Now that they are in elementary school, I just have to show them this post. They can read the directions, get out their own supplies, make the craft, and clean up the mess.
We love 'Snowmen at Christmas' too - my preschooler loves looking for the hidden items in the pictures! Cute snowman craft to go with it!
