Karma Wilson is Virtual Book Club for Kids Author of the Month

Can you believe it is November? Fall is flying by! We had a wonderful, rainy Halloween last night. It's time to shift away from the scary and move on to the food and family month, as I tend to think of November! Since it's November 1st, it's time to introduce our author of the month, Karma Wilson. Each month I team up with a group of bloggers to feature one author.   At the beginning of each month, I'll remind you of that month's author. Near the middle of the month, there will be a linky party to share the ideas for studying the selected author's books. Several bloggers will write posts featuring ideas. You can write a post or share an idea with the virtual book club each month as well. The linky party will give you a great resource to come back to when you are trying to create author studies or find great book activities for your child.

November Author: Karma Wilson

I am so excited to introduce Karma Wilson as our virtual book club for kids author for November. Karma Wilson's books are wonderful for my preschooler and my early reader. She has written tons of picture books, which will give you lots of great choices this month. The characters in her books are some of my boys favorite characters in all of literature. I've been reading her books to the boys for quite a while and they have become very comfortable with her characters. Let me introduce you to a few of the boys "friends".

Bear
Bear is a sweet character who is faced with the "challenges" of childhood like loosing teeth, getting sick, making friends. Of course, he also has added bear challenges-- like hibernation in winter when his friends are awake. Through out the Bear books, Bear shares beautiful lessons of gratitude, friendship, kindness, etc.
Bear has many books, here are a few of our favorites:

Bear Snores On
 Bear Says Thanks
Bear Stays Up for Christmas
Bear's New Friend
Bear's Loose Tooth

Pip
Pip is an adventurous penguin that lives with his (her?) sweet penquin family. You can read about Pip in
Where Is Home, Little Pip?
Don't Be Afraid, Little Pip
What's in the Egg, Little Pip?

 Calico
Calico is a curious kitty. We first met calico when my baby was learning to say, "Uh-oh" and I checked out "Uh-oh, Calico".
Tyson-- age 1-- when we first "met" Calico

We need to revisit this book now. Although my baby is a little older (he still has a lot of "uh-oh" moments), we recently added a kitten to our family!

Other Karma Wilson books we love:
Never Ever Shout in a Zoo

  1. We loved Karma Wilson too when my daughter was younger. I highly recommend her Mortimer's Christmas Manger for the holidays.
